Job Description

I. TITLE: MULTIMEDIA COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST
CODE: PRO 918
 

II. SUMMARY:
An employee in this classification, under the supervision of the Public Information Manager, is responsible for developing visual materials that help the Board achieve its Strategic Plan and effective internal and external communication.


DUTIES:


70% Assists in developing and implementing strategic plan goals and objectives, communication plan, and internal and external communication strategies. 
Facilitates partnerships with local universities, colleges, and high schools to promote awareness, practicum opportunities, and special projects that support student interest in the field of developmental disabilities.
Creates multimedia, including but not limited to print flyers and brochures, infographics, web-based content, billboards, video, and photography, for events held by the Board or co-sponsored by the Board.
  Effectively engages with diverse and inclusive audiences.
  Assists Public Information Manager with website and social media content management as assigned.
  Assists with managing communication projects, including brochures, newsletters, web content,   
  social media content, television spots, videos, projects, special projects, and other materials.
Prepares weekly bulletin for staff and the Developmental Disabilities community, and newsletters and other communications as assigned. 
Assists with staff photographic assignments.


25% Networks with the local and regional Developmental Disabilities communities to cross-promote activities and events.
Stays up-to-date with the latest trends and emerging practices with the development and use of multimedia.
Assists with coordinating Board advertising with ad agencies, electronic media, and print media.
  Ensures that client confidentiality is maintained in all communications including ensuring that no photos or   
  names are used without prior proper release by the individual or their guardian.
5% Performs other related duties as required.
 


III. EQUIPMENT OPERATED:
Personal computer, applications software, audio-visual equipment, camera, and basic office equipment.


IV. WORKING CONDITIONS:
May require evenings, weekends, and locations convenient for individual/family or external contacts. Position requires own transportation.
Position may involve exposure to individuals with medical and behavioral risks.


V. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of public relations and marketing principles and practices. Effective organizational and responsive communication skills.
Ability to represent the Board accurately and professionally.
 Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships.
Journalistic ability.
Skill in using email and digital marketing platforms. Reasonable competence in shooting photos or videos.
Word processing/desktop publishing and basic website development knowledge.
Complies with all applicable laws and board policy regarding confidential information.
Ability to promote an inclusive environment for all board staff, individuals served, families, and providers.


VI. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCES:


A. Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
B. Experience:
Three years of multimedia experience within the last 3-5 years is required.  Five years of experience preferred.  Public sector and developmental disabilities experience preferred.
C. Credentials:

3. Licensure: Valid driver’s license.
D. Ancillary Training:
Training as required by DODD and the Board.
E. Other:
 
Must be qualified to perform all duties assigned to this position.
